Tennis
Will I have a chance to warm-up?
You will have a pre-match warm-up with your first opponents.
Will there be breaks?
Yes. There will be breaks between matches.
How are the rules enforced, will there be court monitors?
There will be on-site USTA officials to ensure that the match format is correctly followed. Rules will be shared with all participants and posted on the website once confirmed.
What if my partner can no longer play?
Please notify the tournament committee as soon as you learn your partner cannot participate. We will do our best to help you find a new partner.
How many matches will I play?
The number of matches will be determined after the entries close. The goal is to optimize every player’s match play at a minimum of (3) matches. A default counts as a match.
What if I forget my match location?

Pickleball
How many matches will I play?
Number of matches will be determined after the entries close. The goal is to optimize every player’s match play at a minimum of (3) matches. A default counts as a match.

What is the format for the Valencia Invitational Pickleball tournament? (including specific details on how the tourney is organized and skill levels)
These Round robin doubles tournaments include Men’s, Womens and Mixed Doubles all held at a variety of skill levels. If your partner has a higher skill level than you do, your team will be placed in the higher level bracket. A Pickleball pro can assist you in selecting the appropriate level for you and your partner. The tournament director reserves the right to move registered players to different skill levels.

What is the format for the Valencia Invitational Pickleball tournament?
Round robin tournament held at a variety of skill levels ranging from 2.5 to 4.0 (USAPP Ratings). Your Pickleball pro will assist you in selecting the appropraite level for you and your partner. These are all Doubles tournaments.
How is the Pickleball tournament structured and what are the details?
Doubles format for Men, Women and Mixed Doubles. Players may only participate in one event (ex: you may not play both Men’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles)
Bocce
What are the dates for the Valencia Invitational Bocce tournament?
Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30th for Bocce
What is the format for the Valencia Invitational Bocce tournament?
Bocce is run in a team format. Communities are fielding teams in both the advance division (High Rollers) and also intermediate beginner division (Social Rollers). Check with your community bocce organizer about teams you are eligible to join.

Event Information
If you register for more than one event do you need to pay multiple registration fees?
Yes, each tournament has a fee. Tennis and Pickleball are $50/player, Bocce is $25/player due to the team format.
Can I watch the Playoffs?
Yes – we welcome everyone to watch the Playoffs and attend the awards ceremonies.
Can I enter more than one flight within an event?
No, in an effort to allow for maximum participation we ask that you only sign up for one flight within an event.
Can my friends and family watch me play?
Yes! Spectators are welome. All spectators must abide by the host community’s rules. Be prepared to bring your own folding chairs, as spectator seating varies at the different venues.
What is the scoring format?
The scoring formats for all sports will be announced in March.
What is the Valencia Invitational? (we’ll provide a few sentences that will be used in press announcements, introductions to sponsors, etc)
An annual set of tournaments open to all residents of Valencia communities in South Palm Beach County. Currently the Invitational includes (10) Valencia communities including: the Bay, Cove, Falls, Isles, Lakes, Palms, Pointe, Reserve, Shores and Sound. Valencia residents participate in personal-best, doubles-format competitive Pickleball and Tennis tournaments. Bocce tournament is played with team format. Who is eligible to participate?
Any 50+ resident of a Valencia community
How do I know what my playing level is?
If there is a pro at your facility, you might speak with him or her to determine the best level for you and your partner. If there is no pro, we have easy-to-understand Rating Guides on both the Tennis and the Pickleball pages on the website. If your community does not have a pro, check with your Sports Committee for guidance. You can always reach out to the Invitational Tournament Directors with a question by sending an email to info@valenciainvitational.org
Are there rain dates for Pickleball / Tennis / Bocce?
Since these are tournaments held on consecutive weekends, we cannot guarantee any rain-date extensions past the Monday following the tournament weekend.

Our facility does not have a pro who is able to assess my playing level – how do I know which Skill level to register?
Whether we use your on-site pro’s recommendations OR your self-assessment, the tournament staff will place you in the division in which you belong!
Facility and Hospitality
Will I be able to park?
Each Valencia community has made arrangements to provide on site parking
Will there be beverages and refreshments provided?
Yes, we are looking to work with the community’s concession and a national food chain to supply refreshments and food
How do I sign up to volunteer for the Invitational events?

Where are the invitational events held?
The events will be hosted by Valencia communities. Exact tournament sites will be assigned once registration levels are determined.
Are there prizes for the winners?
Yes, there will be individual prizes for the winners of each Level.

How much does it cost?

What do the registration fees cover?
Registration fees will cover balls, tournament supervision, prizes with the primary beneficiary being the Alzheimer’s Association.
Are the registration fees refundable?
No, tournament fees are not refundable – this is a fundraiser for Alzheimers #ENDALZ

Do I need to sign up with a partner or can I register as an individual?
Yes, you must sign up with a partner, who may be a resident of any of the participating Valencias. Players without partners at the time registration closes will not be assigned play. The tournament team will do its best to track players looking for partners.
